In science, Year 6 been learning about classification and how living things are grouped using observable features. They have been exploring the work of Carl Linnaeus and the way he carefully compared visible characteristics to organise plants and animals. The children collected leaves from different types of trees and looked closely at features such as shape, edges, veins and size. Next they will use these observations to create a classification key to help identify the different tree species.
