Despite being at Ufton Court, Year 4 have investigated sundials and particle size. They created paper sundials inside and used torches to understand how the shadows are created to tell the time. When the weather was finally brighter, the children used chalk to draw outside sundials so they can take it in turns to be the gnomon and tell the time together. Year 4 have investigated particle size using sieves and different sized foods (rice, pasta and chickpeas). They enjoyed making a mess but also asking brilliant scientific questions related to breathing.
